Catching Up

Since this blog was started while the Bauer residence was already under construction, I want to catch you up to speed on that project.  This will be an approximately 7000 sf home in the new Hickory Hills developement  on the east side of Springfield.  The house was designed by Jason Thompson of JL Thompson design group and is being built for Dr's Nathan and Sara Bauer.  This will be a truly rustic home with a main floor and fully finished basement.  The home will feature alot of reclaimed woodwork, and as of right now we have a load of 12x12 antique pine beams coming from a warehouse that was torn down in the Fort Worth area, another load of 8x8 beams coming from Louisiana, and more 2x material for siding and porch ceilings coming from North Carolina.  All of these materials are well over 100 years old and will make for some very nice features in the home.  Here are some pictures of what we have done so far as well as an artists rendering of the front elevation.

Framing Has Started On The Bauer Residence!!!

Its a big day today in Hickory Hills!!  Concrete has cured, lumber has dropped and the framers are here.  And to top it off, the weather is beautiful - not to many late December days in SW Missouri where we get sun and 60 degrees.   Today was basically just a layout and get started day - lines were snapped in the basement and some of the walls were built around the perimeter of the foundation.  Framing should take about 6 weeks on this home.  At the back of the house you will see where we have framed in a deck for the lower patio - the joists will be covered in metal decking with concrete to be poured over it - we are anticipating that next week.  Also got some grading and dirtwork done today, the ground is starting to slowly dry up so we are planning on bringing in some significant fill dirt next week to build up the back of the property.
